About Anse Chastanet Resort:
St. Lucia’s
ANSE CHASTANET is in one of the most spectacular scenic
settings the Caribbean, if not the world, can offer; it is also
St. Lucia’s only resort situated right in the heart of the marine
reserves. Enjoy the romance and tranquility of this unique hideaway
and go diving with SCUBA ST. LUCIA, the island’s largest and
longest established diving operation. Beach, Boat, Night, Wall
and Wreck Diving are all available and boat dives are never
more than 10-15 minutes away.
Anse Chastanet offers 49 individually designed rooms, 37 of
which are scattered about a lush hillside, and 12 which are
nestled within a tropical garden at beach level. All rooms have
fridges, electric tea/coffee makers and wall mounted hair dryers,
and in-room safes. Deluxe and Premium rooms also have irons
and ironing boards. Facilities at the resort include 2 restaurants
and bars, an excursions and car rental desk, 2 beachside boutiques,
the Kai Belte Spa, Scuba St. Lucia, water sports center, art
gallery, library, Bike St. Lucia and now also Kayak St. Lucia.
The Island of St. Lucia:
St. Lucia is the sort of island that travelers to the Caribbean
dream about--a small, lush tropical gem that is still relatively
unknown. One of the Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles, it
is located midway down the Eastern Caribbean chain, between Martinique
and St. Vincent, and north of Barbados. St. Lucia is only 27 miles
long and 14 miles wide, with a shape that is said to resemble either
a mango or an avocado (depending on your taste). The Atlantic Ocean
kisses its eastern shore, while the beaches of the west coast owe
their beauty to the calm Caribbean Sea.
The natural beauty, St. Lucia seems like an island plucked from
the South Pacific and set down in the Caribbean. The natural beauty,
St. Lucia seems like an island plucked from the South Pacific and
set down in the Caribbean. Its dramatic twin coastal peaks, the
Pitons, soar 2,000 feet up from the sea, sheltering magnificent
rain forests where wild orchids, giant ferns, and birds of paradise
flourish. Brilliantly-plumed tropical birds abound, including endangered
species like the indigenous St. Lucia parrot. The rainforest is
broken only by verdant fields and orchards of banana, coconut, mango,
and papaya trees.
St. Lucia has been inhabited since long before colonial times, and
its cultural treasures are a fascinating mélange of its rich past
and its many different traditions. The island's people have earned
a well-deserved reputation for their warmth and charm, and the island
itself is dotted with aged fortresses, small villages, and open-air
markets.
There is a broad array of exciting and exotic activities available
on St. Lucia. The island's steep coastlines and lovely reefs offer
excellent snorkeling and scuba diving. The rainforest preserves
of St. Lucia's mountainous interior are one of the Caribbean's finest
locales for hiking and bird watching. Of course, the island also
possesses excellent facilities for golf, tennis, sailing, and a
host of other leisure pursuits. Not to be missed is St. Lucia's
Soufriere volcano, the world's only drive-in volcanic crater. /font>

Bike St. Lucia:
Bike
St. Lucia's home is the Anse Mamin Plantation which
is part of the 600 acre estate belonging to ANSE CHASTANET
RESORT. Amidst an abundance of tropical vegetation and
historical remains dating back to the plantation's 18th
century beginnings, 12 miles of bike trails were carefully
implemented to create a unique adventure location while
at the same time preserving the plantation's natural
beauty and cultural heritage.
BIKE ST. LUCIA'S custom trails were designed to accommodate
both the first time and the experienced rider on Cannondale
suspension bikes. There is a skill course training area
adjacent to the 5,000 square foot BIKE ST. LUCIA facility
where riders can learn or brush up their off-road riding
skills. In less than an hour, you will notice your skill
and comfort levels increase dramatically, not to mention
the enjoyment level on the trails.
For those wanting a more challenging ride, there are
intermediate level single-track trails. They are designed
with the idea of a roller coaster ride in mind with
lots of turns, ups and downs while cruising (or perhaps,
on occasion, careening) among dense, lush vegetation
on the specially made tracks.

PLEASE READ:
Since some people live
in other areas, I am leaving air up to you to
obtain. I am on the San Jose flights, however, leaving out of SFO is generally
less money with more flights available.
Also, if you do not want to stay overnight in Miami
or LAX there is a 8:20 AM flight leaving on October
4th which will get you back to San Francisco that
same day. Just remember, you'll have to probably
leave the resort around 4:00 am on Saturday morning
to catch this flight. If this is what you want
to do, let me know and I'll check with the resort to
see if they offer transportation this early.
Mai Kai Adventure:
Since will we be laying over in Miami on the return trip, I am looking at renting a van or two and taking a
road trip to Ft. Lauderdale to the Mai Kai for
dinner and a show. The cost of the van will be divided among those traveling in it.
To see more information including the cost of the dinner show, check out the Mai Kai's website at
http://www.maikai.com.

The Food:
At ANSE CHASTANET's Treehouse Restaurant, we have created and celebrate award winning Tropical World Cuisine, blending Caribbean cuisine with other world cuisine experiences, from French to Mediterranean and from Fusion to New World cuisine.
The dinner menu changes daily
and consists of a 4 course meal and part of the
Piton Restaurant is the Treehouse, where diners
are seated in an open-air area amidst treetops
as the name suggests. Dinner is served daily
with the exception of Tuesdays.
ANSE CHASTANET menus always include vegetarian
options and our culinary team is also happy to
meet dietary requirements at any time. There are
2 restaurants and bars at ANSE CHASTANET. The
Trou au Diable Restaurant serves lunch daily.
The lunch menu offers a wide
and varied choice of appetizers, salads,
sandwiches, burgers and creole specialties from
an à la carte menu, in addition to a large
buffet spread with hot and cold dishes.
On Tuesday evening you will enjoy a special
Caribbean Buffet which commences with a cocktail
reception followed by dinner in the Trou au
Diable beach restaurant. The atmosphere is
festive with the entire stretch of beach in
front of the restaurant lit up by flambeau
candles.
The Trou au Diable restaurant offers a special
Indian theme menu titled APSARA on all evenings
except Tuesday. APSARA is an innovative fusion
of modern East Indian and Caribbean cooking, a
celebration of St.Lucia historical and cultural
ties with East India.
At the Beach Grill, all evenings except Tuesdays, we serve a beach grill menu in the beach bar giving our guests the option to enjoy light grilled fare near the water's edge in a casual setting.
There is also an afternoon
tea which is served from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
daily in both the Piton Bar and Beach Bar, and
an afternoon snack menu is also available at
that time.
The two bars at Piti Piton Restaurant and the
Trou au Diable beach restaurant are open daily
and offer a wide selection of tropical
cocktails, beers, liquor including also fine
malt whiskeys, eau-de-vies and after dinner
drinks. Why not start your vacation with a
STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN or how about a
CARIBBEAN KISS!
